Spring is here!
Spring is here!!! The weather is (finally) getting warmer, and we are dreaming of beautiful days spent outside. April may bring gorgeous sunsets, but it is also known for quick weather shifts and changes. Therefore, we have to be prepared to make fast choices that will keep us safe in the event of severe weather.
How can we prepare our family and home for this season?
Clean and stock your storm shelter
If you have a shelter in your home, now is a great time to get it clean and stocked. Here are some ideas of items to keep on hand...
water bottles
snacks
blankets
flashlights with new batteries
weather radio
activities for the kids
You can place these essential items in a bin and leave them in the shelter. This ensures your family is comfortable while waiting out the storm.
2. Make a plan and share it with your family.
It's important that everyone knows where to go when the sirens start ringing. If you have small children, you might want to practice getting into the shelter. Remember to make a plan for your pets!
3. Have a list of important phone numbers and policy numbers.
If your home suffers a loss caused by a storm, you can file a claim through many carriers' apps or through your online account. Be ready to provide a statement and take pictures of any damage.
Remember, we are here to help! Call our office, and we can help guide you through the claims process.
